Know the HTS Classification of Your Goods. The Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classifies products in an internationally standardized system of numbers and names. The HTS has been distinctly divided into 99 chapters and 22 sections, plus numerous appendices on chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and intermediate chemicals for dyes, along with comprehensive notes and interpretation rules. Importers use the HTS to classify their imported products and determine the appropriate rate of duty owed, if any, to US Customs.
