Subject: FSIS FRN Regarding Imported Siluriformes fish and fish products
The Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) is announcing that starting August 2, 2017, all
shipments of imported Siluriformes fish and fish products that make U.S. Customs entry on or after August 2, 2017, must be presented at an Official Import Inspection Establishment for reinspection by FSIS personnel prior to entering U.S. commerce. A Federal Register Notice providing additional information regarding this change is available through the FSIS Web page at https://www.fsis.usda.gov/wps/wcm/connect/5c8d3f35-95bd-436b-9161-ae5043c9b40b/2017-0024.pdf?MOD=AJPERES.

FSIS is encouraging importers and brokers to communicate and coordinate closely with business partners, official import inspection establishments, and their appropriate FSIS District Office in advance of implementation to facilitate full compliance. FSIS has posted an updated letter with instructions for filing the import application (FSIS form 9540-1) at https://www.fsis.usda.gov/wps/wcm/connect/b7f4e073-fcb6-4f3d-a62d-7a681cd24a80/Importer-Customs-Broker-Letter-Import-Reinspection-Siluriformes.pdf?MOD=AJPERES. The Partner Government Agency (PGA) Message Set for fish and fish products under FSIS jurisdiction will not be available for use until further notice.
