§ 500.18 - SI metric prefixes.

The following chart indicates SI prefixes that may be used on a broad range of consumer commodity labels:

Prefix Symbol Multiplying factor 1
Kilo-kx 10 3
Deca-da × 10
Deci-d × 10−1
Centi-c × 10−2
Milli-m × 10−3
Micro-µ × 10−6

1 10 2=100; 10 3=1000; 10−1=0.1; 10−2=0.01.

Thus, 2 kg=2 × 1000 g=2000 g, and 3 cm=3 × 0.01 m=0.03 m.
