RE: The tariff classification of an electric pet dish from China
Dear Mr. Uzochukwu:
In your letter dated July 9, 2006, you requested a tariff classification ruling.
The merchandise is the Automatic Opening Lid Pet Dish, item UZO1&61668. The dish contains an electric motor that opens and closes its lid automatically by means of a sensor. The lid keeps the pet’s food or water sanitary.
The applicable subheading for the Automatic Opening Lid Pet Dish will be 8509.80.0095, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for electromechanical domestic appliances, with self-contained electric motor…other appliances, other. The rate of duty will be 4.2 percent ad valorem.

This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).
