RE: The tariff classification of steel buckle parts from China.
Dear Ms. Sivek:
In your letter dated November 8, 2000, you requested a tariff classification ruling.
You have submitted two samples of golf cap buckle parts. The golf cap snap-type and non-snap buckle parts are designed with teeth to hold the cap adjustment in place. Your letter of inquiry states that the buckles will be used for golf caps, to tighten or loosen the fit of the cap.
The samples will be retained by NIS 222.
The applicable subheading for the buckle parts will be 8308.90.6000, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for...buckles, buckle clasps...of base metal: other, including parts: buckles and buckle clasps, and parts thereof. The rate of duty will be 3.9 percent ad valorem.
The rate of duty will remain unchanged in 2001.
This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).
A copy of the ruling or the control number indicated above should be provided with the entry documents filed at the time this merchandise is imported. If you have any questions regarding the ruling, contact National Import Specialist Alice Masterson at 212-637-7090.
Sincerely,
