RE: The tariff classification of electric cooking burners from China
Dear Mr. Lopaz:
In your letter dated November 20, 1996, on behalf of Blusound Electronics,
you requested a tariff classification ruling.
The merchandise consists of an electric cooking burner, Brentwood TS-300.
The item is a stand-alone, portable cooking hob, containing one heating element.
You have suggested that this item be classified as a cooking stove, range or
oven, but since the burner is none of those items, it cannot be classified as
such.
The applicable subheading for the burner will be 8516.60.6000, Harmonized
Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for cooking stoves,
ranges, cooking plates, boiling rings, grillers and roasters, other. The rate
of duty will be 4.3 percent ad valorem.

This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs
Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).
