RE: The tariff classification of a plastic trigger sprayer from Mexico.
Dear Ms. Smith:
In your letter dated April 2, 2015, you requested a tariff classification ruling.
The merchandise under consideration, described as a plastic trigger sprayer, is composed of a trigger, a nozzle and a plastic tube. You have stated that after importation, it will be fitted onto a plastic bottle filled with cleaning product. The plastic trigger sprayer is designed to spray liquid when the user squeezes the hand-operated trigger. Liquid is then raised upward through the plastic tube, into its valves and out of the nozzle. The nozzle may be adjusted to disable or enable the trigger sprayer.
The applicable subheading for the plastic trigger sprayer will be 8424.20.1000, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for mechanical appliances for projecting, dispersing or spraying liquids or powders…spray guns and similar appliances: simple piston pump sprays and powder bellows. The rate of duty will be 2.9 percent ad valorem.
Duty rates are provided for your convenience and are subject to change. The text of the most recent HTSUS and the accompanying duty rates are provided on World Wide Web at http://www.usitc.gov/tata/hts/.
This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).
A copy of the ruling or the control number indicated above should be provided with the entry documents filed at the time this merchandise is imported. If you have any questions regarding the ruling, contact National Import Specialist Patricia O’Donnell at [email protected].
