RE: The tariff classification of Amlodipine Besylate (CAS-111470-99-6) and Benazepril Hydrochloride (CAS-86541-74-4), imported in dosage form, from India
Dear Mr. Sullivan:
In your letter dated November 29, 2013, you requested a tariff classification ruling.
The subject product, Amlodipine Besylate and Benazepril Hydrochloride, is a medicinal preparation in capsule form, containing Amlodipine Besylate, a calcium channel blocker and Benazepril Hydrochloride, a non-sulfhydryl angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor, as the active ingredients. The product will be imported in 20 mg, 10 mg, 20 mg and 40 mg dosage form. It is indicated for the treatment of hypertension and chronic stable angina.
The applicable subheading for the Amlodipine Besylate and Benazepril Hydrochloride, imported in dosage form will be 3004.90.9120, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for “Medicaments (…) consisting of mixed or unmixed products for therapeutic or prophylactic uses, put up in measured doses (…) or in forms or packings for retail sale: Other: Other: Other: Cardiovascular medicaments.” The rate of duty will be free.
