RE: The tariff classification of Magnesium Acetate (CAS# 142-72-3) from Netherlands

Dear Ms. Dumas:

In your letter dated July 17, 2018, you requested a tariff classification ruling.

The subject product is called Magnesium Acetate (CAS# 142-72-3). It is a single chemically defined compound and is not a mixture of any other chemical. Magnesium Acetate is used for dyeing of ceramic tiles, agriculture, and printing.

The applicable subheading for the Magnesium Acetate (CAS# 142-72-3) will be 2915.29.5000, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for which provides for Saturated acyclic monocarboxylic acids and their anhydrides, halides, peroxides and peroxyacids; their halogenated, sulfonated, nitrated or nitrosated derivatives: Acetic acid and its salts; acetic anhydride: Other. The rate of duty will be 2.8 percent ad valorem. This merchandise may be subject to the requirements of the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), which are administered by the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency.
