RE: The tariff classification of Sodium citrate dihydrate, CAS # 6132-04-3, imported in bulk form, from China
Dear Mr. Chivini:
In your letter dated July 27, 2007 you requested a tariff classification ruling.
The subject product, Sodium citrate dihydrate, also known as 1,2,3-Propanetricarboxylic acid, 2-hydroxy-, trisodium salt, dihydrate, is a salt of citric acid indicated for use as a pharmaceutical intermediate.
The applicable subheading for Sodium citrate dihydrate will be 2918.15.1000, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for Carboxylic acids with alcohol function but without other oxygen function their anhydrides, halides, peroxides, peroxyacids and their derivatives: Salts and esters of citric acid: Sodium citrate. The rate of duty will be 6.5 percent ad valorem.
