RE: The tariff classification of Carprofen (CAS-53716-49-7), imported in bulk form, from China
Dear Mr. Chivini:
In your letter dated March 2, 2007, you requested a tariff classification ruling.
The subject product, Carprofen, is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) indicated for use by veterinarians for the relief of arthritic symptoms in dogs.
The applicable subheading for Carprofen, imported in bulk form, will be 2933.99.5590, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for “Heterocyclic compounds with nitrogen hetero-atom(s) only: Other: Other: Aromatic or modified aromatic: Other: Drugs: Drugs primarily affecting the central nervous system: Analgesics, antipyretics and nonhormonal anti-inflammatory agents: Other.” Pursuant to General Note 13, HTSUS, the rate of duty will be free.
