Dear Mr. Golla:
On December 20, 1990, this office issued HQ 087993,
regarding the classification of "string" under the Harmonized
Tariff Schedule of the United States Annotated (HTSUSA).
Since that time, we have determined that the ruling contains
an error and should be modified as set out below.
In the paragraph found under the heading "FACTS" we
stated that the apparent average width of the merchandise was
observed when the string was unfolded. This is incorrect.
The measurements set out in HQ 087993 were those of the folded
product. Therefore, the words "When unfolded," should be
deleted from the paragraph.
This modification will not change the analysis or
classification of the imported merchandise.
