The Workforce Investment Act of 1998, referred to in subsecs. (a), (b), and (g), is Pub. L. 105–220, Aug. 7, 1998, 112 Stat. 936, and was repealed by Pub. L. 113–128, title V, §§ 506, 511(a), July 22, 2014, 128 Stat. 1703, 1705, effective July 1, 2015. Pursuant to section 3361(a) of this title, references to a provision of the Workforce Investment Act of 1998 are deemed to refer to the corresponding provision of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act, Pub. The Adult Education and Family Literacy Act, referred to in subsec. (c), was repealed, and a new Adult Education and Family Literacy Act was enacted, by Pub. L. 113–128. The former Act is title II of Pub. L. 105–220, Aug. 7, 1998, 112 Stat. 1059, which was classified principally to subchapter I (§ 9201 et seq.) of chapter 73 of Title 20, Education, prior to repeal by Pub. L. 113–128, title V, §§ 506, 511(a), July 22, 2014, 128 Stat. 1703, 1705, effective July 1, 2015. The new Act is title II of Pub. L. 113–128, July 22, 2014, 128 Stat. 1608, which is classified generally to subchapter II (§ 3271 et seq.) of this chapter. For complete classification of title II of Pub. As in effect on the day before July 22, 2014, referred to in subsecs. (c) and (d), was in the original “as in effect on the day before the date of enactment of this Act”, meaning the date of enactment of Pub. L. 113–128, which was approved July 22, 2014. However, the repeal and reenactment of the Adult Education and Family Literacy Act, see note above, and the amendments to the Wagner-Peyser Act made by title III of Pub. L. 113–128 are effective on the first day of the first full program year after July 22, 2014, which is probably July 1, 2015. See section 506 of Pub. L. 113–128, set out as an Effective Date note under section 3101 of this title.

This Act, referred to in subsecs. (c) to (g)(1), is Pub. L. 113–128, July 22, 2014, 128 Stat. 1425, known as the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act, which enacted this chapter, repealed chapter 30 (§ 2801 et seq.) of this title and chapter 73 (§ 9201 et seq.) of Title 20, Education, and made amendments to numerous other sections and notes in the Code. The Wagner-Peyser Act, referred to in subsec. (d), is act June 6, 1933, ch. 49, 48 Stat. 113, which is classified generally to chapter 4B (§ 49 et seq.) of this title. For complete classification of this Act to the Code, see Short Title note set out under section 49 of this title and Tables.
