RE: The tariff classification of Bis-Indole N-Methylmaleimide (CAS 113963-68-1), imported in bulk form, from India
Dear Mr. Chivini:
In your letter dated February 8, 2006, you requested a tariff classification ruling for Bis-Indole N-Methylmaleimide, also known as1H-Pyrrole-2,5-dione, 3,4-Di-1H-indol-3-yl-1-methyl-, which you have stated will be used as a pharmaceutical intermediate.
The applicable subheading will be 2933.99.7900, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for other aromatic heterocyclic compounds with nitrogen hetero-atom(s) only: products described in additional U.S. note 3 to section VI. The rate of duty will be 6.5 percent ad valorem.

This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).
